Interplay: Bakersfield College Centennial Exhibit

This fall , the Wylie and May Louise Jones Gallery welcomes back old friends and colleagues to celebrate the Bakersfield College Centennial. The first exhibit of our 2013/2014 season features artwork in a variety of media by esteemed retired faculty:

  • Birt Brink, Al Davis, Al Naso, Chalita Brossett Robinson, Harry Wilson, and Marlene Tatsuno.

Their work will be complemented by the artwork of current full and part time faculty members:

  • Laura Borneman, Cameron Brian, David Koeth, Emily Maddigan, Deborah Rodenhauser, Armando Rubio, Adel Shafik, Kristopher Stallworth, and Cecilia Noyes.

The exhibit runs September 3 through October 10, 2013.

Please join us at an hors d’oeuvre reception for the artists August 29, 2013 from 5:30 until 7:00 pm

Admission to the reception will be $15.00 per person.

The Wiley and May Louise Jones Gallery is located in the foyer of the Byrd Library on the campus of Bakersfield College at 1801 Panorama Drive, Bakersfield, Ca. Please use the Haley Street entrance to campus. Parking fees are suspended on the evening of the opening reception. After that please follow campus protocol by parking in the visitor spaces.

Annual Bakersfield College Art Student Exhibit to Open April 18, 2013

The Wiley and May Louise Jones Gallery is pleased to present the Bakersfield College Art Student Exhibit. Student made artwork in a variety of media is always the focus of this popular annual show.Image

Getting in:

Students submit digital images of their artwork to be judged. The juror chooses the artwork for inclusion. This year, for the first time, the juror awarded prizes for the Best of Show.

The Juror:

Internationally exhibited sculptor and Chair of the CSUB Art Department, Joyce Kohl, was this year’s juror. She found it very challenging to choose just one artwork as Best of Show so this year there will be two.

Winners will be announced at the opening reception of the exhibit.

BC Faculty Exhibition to open October 25, 2012

The Wylie and May Louise Jones Gallery at Bakersfield College is pleased to present the Bakersfield College Art Faculty Exhibit Featuring diverse new work by David Koeth, Emily Maddigan, Laura Borneman, Kristopher Stallworth, Adel Shafik, Debora Rodenhauser, Claire Putney, Cameron Brian, Armando Rubio

BC Art Student Exhibit Opens April 12

The Jones Art Gallery at Bakersfield College is pleased to present it’s annual BC Art Student Exhibition.

This year 227 total artworks were submitted to be considered for inclusion in the show. An outside juror, Jesse Sugarmann, then chose 71 pieces for the exhibit. This exhibit showcases some of the best artwork done at Bakersfield College in the 2011-2012 academic year.

BC Art Student Exhibition opens April 12, 2012 and runs until May 3, 2012

Gallery hours are Mondays through Thursdays 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

PLEASE join us at a reception for the student artists April 12 from 5:30 until 7:00 pm.

The Jones Gallery is located in the Grace Van Dyke Bird Library on the campus of Bakersfield College at 1801 Panorama Drive, Bakersfield California. Take the Haley Street (1/2 block south of Panorama) entrance into the campus.
